Drawing on a lesson I learned early in life, I was able to navigate through a difficult time for my family and build the life of our dreams. Now I get to help others do the same thing.
When she said that I was two points away from a B, I burst into tears. After years of switching schools throughout the country – this was supposed to be my fresh start. We were staying here in Florida, and I had worked so hard to get better grades, except spelling stood in my way.
As a child, I moved all the time, not always into the best neighborhoods. I was raised by a single mother and started taking care of myself by the time I was four years old. We were supported by welfare, and there were several homeless stretches when we had to wait in line for meals.
It was a rough way to grow up, but that day in third grade, I realized I could make a different life for myself through education. In the end, I received the A grade I had been working so hard to achieve in spelling. Aware of my strong preference for an A over a B, my teacher made an adjustment to reflect my dedication and efforts more accurately. I know there have been countless people looking out for me over the years, including that student teacher. From that point on, I excelled in everything from clubs to sports to grades. I made the honor roll and got a scholarship to college. Eventually, I ended up earning two master’s degrees.
Even though I did not always have a home or food, I knew I was here for a reason. As a child, I found my church family. Getting through those years, I believed that I was not what others called me – I was only what God called me. My relationship with God was what helped me get through those tough times early on and later when the recession hit.
My husband and I bought our house as newlyweds at the height of the market right before the crash. With my husband in construction, we suddenly had no income. The bank refused to work with us, but I refused to give up. After a life of instability, I finally owned my own home, and I was ready to fight for it. There were five long years of back and forth, but we saved our home and went on to buy more properties.
That experience first sparked my interest in real estate. I spent countless hours talking to banks and lenders, learning everything I could. The recession was tough for a lot of people, and I helped many of my friends learn about options through food stamps, Medicaid, WIC and others because I was raised utilizing these programs myself. Those services are there to bridge a gap, which they did for me. In the end, I broke the cycle.
I was able to pull myself out of it and went to work for a local builder asan office manager a few years later. By 2016, I was a licensed REALTOR®. I am most proud of the legacy I have created for my four daughters through real estate. Everything I do is for my family. My husband is in construction, and when we flip homes together, our daughters enthusiastically join in, adding their creative touches and helping with tasks like painting and decorating. They know we are all building a better future.
That is what I wanted to provide not only for my own family, but for everyone else as well. I discovered that homeownership is the key to generational wealth. It helped me break the cycle of poverty and welfare in my own life and has helped so many of my clients do the same. Homes are so important, and they are also investments into better futures. My favorite part of being a REALTOR® is helping create a win-win negotiation to help everyone reach their goals fairly on each side of the table.
Every real estate transaction is an investment in your future. Even if you’re looking for your perfect forever home, it’s something that will be there to benefit future generations. I do not take that lightly. I will protect you and your interests throughout this process. Education makes a huge difference, as I learned through my own experience, so I take the time to explain each step to my clients and create a plan. I’ll make sure you know everything you need to make the best decision to benefit you long-term. I have extensive experience in residential, investment, development, and commercial real estate. Florida has been my home for nearly my entire life, so I know these communities and have a widespread network to help you get where you want to be. Complications come up in transactions, but I push ahead. I’m confident I can help you reach your goals because of my ability to come up with creative solutions combined with my unbeatable persistence. Once the transaction is over, I will continue to support your success as your lifelong REALTOR®.
Sincerely,
Victoria Davis
